الملخص
تمحور الهدف الرئيس للدراسة في بحث وتحليل أسباب العلاقة الاستثنائية بين الولايات المتحدة والكيان الصهيوني، وكيف أثرت المتغيرات التي شهدتها العلاقات منذ 2011 على تلك العلاقة الاستثنائية، وقد استعانت الدراسة بنظرية الاختيار العقلاني. وتعزو العلاقة الاستثنائية بين البلدين إلى ثلاثة عوامل رئيسية: أهمية الكيان الاستراتيجية كقاعدة عسكرية ثابتة مضمونة للولايات المتحدة في المنطقة، وجود روابط دينية وثقافية تجمع الولايات المتحدة بالكيان، وأخيراً، وهو العامل الأهم على الإطلاق التأثير الطاغ للوبي الصهيوني في الولايات المتحدة. ومن ثم، يتأتى الدعم الأمريكي المطلق خاصة من جانب الرئيس الأمريكي للكيان والذى قد يأتي مقدما أو على حساب المصالح الأمريكية في بعض الأحيان، ويعد هذا الدعم اختياراً عقلانياً عملا بنظرية الاختيار العقلاني؛ إذ أن معارضة مصالح الكيان قد تسبب خسائر للرئيس الأمريكي كبيرة. لكن على الرغم من ذلك، فالتغيرات التي شهدتها العلاقات بين الجانبين لن تؤدى على الأرجح في المدى القصير إلى توقف الدعم الأمريكي المطلق للكيان؛ لكن من شانها أن تؤثر على درجة هذا الدعم على المدى البعيد، وأبرز هذه المتغيرات تراجع الانغماس الأمريكي في المنطقة حيث أصبح دعم الكيان عائقا أمام واشنطن لانسحاب تام من المنطقة من أجل التركيز على التهديد الصيني في الباسيفيك، وأيضا التغير الكبير في التركيبة الاجتماعية والسياسة داخل الولايات المتحدة بفضل تزايد عدد المهاجرين، حيث تنامت على إثر هذا التغير معارضة كبيرة للكيان والدعم الأمريكي المطلق له، وهو ما تجلى بصورة كبيرة في حرب الإبادة التي يشنها الكيان على غزة.
