The Development Road Project in Iraq is one of the most important strategic initiatives aimed at transforming the country into a logistical and commercial hub connecting the East and the West. Starting from Al-Faw Port in the south to the northern borders with Turkey, it enhances connectivity with Europe. The project aims to support the Iraqi economy, create job opportunities, and achieve sustainable development. However, it faces economic, political, administrative, security, environmental, and technological challenges.The economic challenges include the need for massive investments in infrastructure and the heavy reliance on oil as the main source of funding, in addition to a weak investment environment. Political challenges include political instability, bureaucracy, and administrative corruption. Security challenges require providing a safe environment for the project, while environmental challenges involve the need to consider environmental sustainability.

To overcome these challenges, it is proposed to enhance investment in infrastructure, diversify the economy, improve the business environment, combat corruption, foster international cooperation, strengthen security, reform legislation, and develop human resources, while emphasizing environmental sustainability and flexibility in planning and implementation. The Development Road Project is considered a significant opportunity to support the Iraqi economy and achieve sustainable development. Through effective investment and international cooperation, Iraq can become a global trade hub, enhancing its economic and political standing.
