Turkish–Brazilian Relations (2006–2026)

Abstract

This section examines the prospects of cooperation between Turkey and Brazil during the period (2006–2026), in light of the accelerated transformations in the international system and the growing role of middle powers in reshaping global power balances. It highlights the development of bilateral relations between the two countries as regional actors seeking to diversify their international partnerships and enhance the independence of their strategic decision-making. The study focuses on two main dimensions of cooperation: security and military cooperation, and economic and trade cooperation, analyzing their motivations and mechanisms. It also discusses the evolution of defense industries and security coordination between the two sides, alongside the growth of trade exchange and economic partnerships, Furthermore, the study addresses the impact of regional and international variables on the trajectory of Turkish–Brazilian cooperation, particularly global political and economic shifts. The study concludes that relations between Turkey and Brazil hold promising potential for expansion although their advancement depends on both parties’ ability to overcome political and economic challenges and effectively utilize available opportunities to build a more sustainable strategic partnership
